Can I connect this to my directv box? I want to mount my tv over my fireplace but hate the wires. Will this work?

I bought one a year and a half ago. Worked great. Then, over time it started looking signal/sync. After it began doing this at times it was so bad you had to power off the DTV receiver and restart. I troubleshooted the problem down to a problem with this box. The tv is less than 15 ft from the transmitter. It has a straight line of sight. If the DirecTV receiver is hooked to another TV and works fine. It also will lose sync if wired directly to the IOGEAR transmitter with an HDMI cable. It will play fine when using a DVD player for the most part but even then loses signal from time to time. There is some kind of sync problem more than likely due to hdcp protection. I contacted iogear about this several times describing the steps I took to troubleshoot and there was no help available. They seem to think that it was the DirecTV receivers problem even though when it was connected to a TV and another TV and work flawlessly. I asked if they had any firmware updates and apparently there is none. So after this happened I started looking at some reviews on different websites and apparently this is a problem that they have. They seem to work fine for a while and then overtime they seem for some reason to stop working. If you can afford to spend a couple of hundred dollars every year to replace that box it would probably be okay but I can't do that. People seem to have luck with the Actiontec wireless TV so that may be what I try next. So just a word of warning. If it does happen, you probably won't get any help from them. This was used with a DirecTV hr34 and a hr44.

My tivo has one hdmi output that already goes into a receiver, which then outputs into my tv.  can i use this to send the tivo signal to another tv?

You could also look into a different version of the same thing, it's only a couple bucks more expensive, but the GW3DHDKIT by IOGear is also a pass through, so it will pick allow the tivo to go into the receiver and also send it to a second tv at the same time. I use the GW3DHDKIT in between my cable box and my receiver in the living room and send the signal to my bedroom so I only have to pay for one STB on my bill instead of the extra $20 a month. Made back the money in less than a year.

Any delay when using this on computer to monitor/tv Far away?

We use from our conference table about 10 ft away.  No noticeable delay.

Will it work to hook up an Xbox to a TV hanging on wall?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  It is supposed to have only a few milliseconds of lag.  Keep the receipts in case your games don't work that well.  BTW, this range is not good if there are walls in between.
