It’s helping me recover, be up and around

As I continue to recover from a bad sprain I’m now using this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer In oder to allow me to walk while protected and stable, finding them to be comfortable and protective. After my injuries my wife ordered this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer along with a boot from Amazon to help me heal. In both cases we are very happy with our choices. They arrived the next day thanks for Amazon Prime, and both have worked well for me.A few weeks ago I took a bad hit, spraining my right ankle and nailing my left knee (don’t ask). As I’ve recovered I’ve had to deal with a bruised foot, the sprain, and needing to support one, while not bothering the other. At this point I continue to have swelling in the ankle, deep bruising in the foot and ankle, but the need to get up and around. I’m finding this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer to be giving me the support I need, but without pain to the deep bruising.Because of the nature of my injuries I’ve been unable to actually put this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer or my previous boot on by myself. We cannot tell if this is a one person job, but throughout it’s had to be a job I cannot do from my position - so something to keep in mind, but again, it may simply be my injury. The Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer is lightweight and does not hinder my movement. It feels nice as it’s wrapped around the ankle, but again, it’s not hurting nor causing pain across the foot, though I feel protected. I am not wearing socks in these images - as you can see - but these were taken to test the size and take photos for this review. I have since worm them only with socks. While I did not find discomfort wearing no socks, I do feel I’m more comfortable walking with them WITH the socks - as if they give me a little more cushion, but also a feeling of protection. But I THINK I could go without and be fine. * I did wear them around the house that first time without socks for about an hour and I was fine.I like that the ties can be adjusted like a shoe in order to adjust tightness. We’ve worked a few times to get that just right, but it was easy to do and didn’t take too long. I feel the solid, but soft support along the ankle. It keeps me comfortable, but protected. I tried to use them in a pair of slip on casual shoes - the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer did not fit. I am using them in a pair of older gym shoes - I did not want to risk stretching my main pair of gym shoes - and find that the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer works well. My wife had to extend out the shoes and could not really tighten it all the way down - meaning the shoes do feel loose on the foot. But at this point I’m still doing limited walking. I think as I can walk more I’ll continue to use the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer at least another week, and I will have to figure out how to deal with the looser shoe. But as I need to feel protected and strength in the ankle, I’ll deal.In the end I’m very happy with the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer and will use it as long as I need it. And we’ll keep it around for any... what-if.

Perfect fit and quality...EASY ON!

After trying four - yes four - other brands, this on is perfect for my ankle sprain. EASY direction and if you measure as the manufacturer suggests, it's a perfect fit. Excellent quality for the money. Thank you for the relief!

Stable brace, comfortable, easy to put on and take off

I spent a lot of time trying to decide between this and a McDavid brace after my last severe ankle sprain - I chose this based on reviews indicating it was easy to get on and off, but provided excellent support and was comfortable. After using it for a few months, I can say all of those things are true.Putting it on is straightforward - undo all the straps, loosen up the laces, and slide your foot in. Tighten and tie the laces, wrap both heel straps around and fasten the velcro, and finish it off with the ankle strap. Takes a minute or so to do, way faster than any taping job. And the laces are long enough that I can get my foot in and out without removing them - I do have to loosen them almost as much as possible though, especially if my ankle is stiff.I am right on the border between sizes - got an XL based on the ankle circumference chart with a measurement of 14, and a 12W or 13 foot also pointed to XL. For times when my ankle is not swollen, there is some extra fabric in there. But the system still tightens down nicely and feels stable, and on the upside I can still get my foot into the brace when my ankle is swollen. If I was buying a second one for routine use I would get a Large. The brace is also comfortable. It restricts motion, but there are no pain points or other irritation, even after playing basketball for a few hours. I was surprised at how well it worked the first time, not it just seems normal. I had to loosen the laces on my shoes a bit to get it in, but no need for bigger shoes. Some people have mentioned smell - I always rinse it out after use, and hang it to dry for a day or so before using again, and never have had an issue. If you will be using it daily, I recommend having two pairs and alternating them. I am working on strengthening the ankle so I don't need it regularly - I use it for basketball but not running, so it isn't a daily thing.Overall, this is an excellent brace, that really helped me to get active more quickly after an injury. I recommend it.

comfortable to wear

I broke my ankle and this was on the list from my doctor of possible braces to use once I was out of the walking boot. Today is the first day I can use it and I was able to figure it out but had to go back to the original posting on amazon for it to see how to use it. Mine just came in a plastic bag with no instructions. I was very surprised when I looked at the video to see how to use it and it was suppose to be in a box with instructions. I think this brace will work well and it was easy to get my shoe to go on over it, but I was disappointed to not have instructions come with it.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW

It’s an ok item, great quality, great fit, and most importantly my top of the line foot doctor loves this brand!!!The thing is is that I have eczema and this thing flares it up recreates eczema that I’ve spent all my life (13 years) trying to get rid of and I’m still trying to get rid of it so if you don’t have eczema don’t think twice just buy but if you have large amounts of eczema on your feat, consult your dermatologist before buying or ask Dr.chatgpt 😂
