Post broken ankle security

A must after my broken ankle. When transitioning out of the boot to a shoe this gave me the confidence to walk outside of my house. It also helped to keep the swelling down when I was up and moving a lot in a day. I wore this at the gym too which made it very sweaty so had to be sure to air it out to dry it before the next day.

It’s helping me recover, be up and around

As I continue to recover from a bad sprain I’m now using this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer In oder to allow me to walk while protected and stable, finding them to be comfortable and protective. After my injuries my wife ordered this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer along with a boot from Amazon to help me heal. In both cases we are very happy with our choices. They arrived the next day thanks for Amazon Prime, and both have worked well for me.A few weeks ago I took a bad hit, spraining my right ankle and nailing my left knee (don’t ask). As I’ve recovered I’ve had to deal with a bruised foot, the sprain, and needing to support one, while not bothering the other. At this point I continue to have swelling in the ankle, deep bruising in the foot and ankle, but the need to get up and around. I’m finding this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer to be giving me the support I need, but without pain to the deep bruising.Because of the nature of my injuries I’ve been unable to actually put this Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer or my previous boot on by myself. We cannot tell if this is a one person job, but throughout it’s had to be a job I cannot do from my position - so something to keep in mind, but again, it may simply be my injury. The Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer is lightweight and does not hinder my movement. It feels nice as it’s wrapped around the ankle, but again, it’s not hurting nor causing pain across the foot, though I feel protected. I am not wearing socks in these images - as you can see - but these were taken to test the size and take photos for this review. I have since worm them only with socks. While I did not find discomfort wearing no socks, I do feel I’m more comfortable walking with them WITH the socks - as if they give me a little more cushion, but also a feeling of protection. But I THINK I could go without and be fine. * I did wear them around the house that first time without socks for about an hour and I was fine.I like that the ties can be adjusted like a shoe in order to adjust tightness. We’ve worked a few times to get that just right, but it was easy to do and didn’t take too long. I feel the solid, but soft support along the ankle. It keeps me comfortable, but protected. I tried to use them in a pair of slip on casual shoes - the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer did not fit. I am using them in a pair of older gym shoes - I did not want to risk stretching my main pair of gym shoes - and find that the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer works well. My wife had to extend out the shoes and could not really tighten it all the way down - meaning the shoes do feel loose on the foot. But at this point I’m still doing limited walking. I think as I can walk more I’ll continue to use the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer at least another week, and I will have to figure out how to deal with the looser shoe. But as I need to feel protected and strength in the ankle, I’ll deal.In the end I’m very happy with the Med Spec ASO Ankle Stabilizer and will use it as long as I need it. And we’ll keep it around for any... what-if.

If you have a weak ankle, this is the solution

I've worn one of these for years both before and after ankle surgery. Had an unstable ankle for years, and this helped me delay surgery for a while. Ankle is rock solid stable after surgery, but I still wear it when I'm doing active things...don't want to have a freak tweak mess up all the gains from surgery! You can easily fit this into most shoes and sneakers...you may have a problem with slip ons unless they're stretchy. Being able to loosen the laces to help you slide in is key. My daughter also has been wearing one after she recently sprained her ankle tumbling, and it's really helped her rehab, and getting back to activity more quickly

Perfect fit and quality...EASY ON!

After trying four - yes four - other brands, this on is perfect for my ankle sprain. EASY direction and if you measure as the manufacturer suggests, it's a perfect fit. Excellent quality for the money. Thank you for the relief!

Works great.

Great product. My daughter broke her ankle the previous year, it gave great support and piece of mind for her.

Excellent

An acquaintance recommended this brace for my injured ankle. It works great and my podiatrist even complimented that I had the smarts to choose such a high quality brace. A little pricey, but totally worth it and very happy with my purchase.

Buyer beware!

I buy stuff from Amazon frequently and I can honestly say that this is the worst experience I've ever had. Before you buy anything from Flexibrace, please read this review. The one positive thing that I can say about Flexibrace is that they offer high quality products at a discounted price and that delivery was prompt. As thrifty Amazon shoppers, we should expect this from every company that is part of the Amazon Marketplace. If you order a product from Flexibrace and are satisfied with it, you won't have any problems. I'm guessing this is why they have lots of positive reviews. However, if you want to return the item for a refund, they will do everything in their power to keep your money.I needed an ankle brace and the ASO brand was recommended to me. I followed the ASO website's sizing instructions which suggests making the measurement wearing a sock. I fell into the XL category, which is weird because for most other clothing items, I wear size L. Anyway, I found the item on Amazon and decided on Flexibrace because of their low price. I got the brace about a week later and sure enough it was too big. Next came the fun part.Word to the wise, always check a company's return policy before you buy. Lesson learned here. Firstly, the product needs to be returned within 7 days! Method one of how Flexibrace attempts to keep your money. Most places allow 30 days. Secondly, you have to pay for shipping back to the company which is commonplace but still irritating. And finally, if they accept the return (and from my experience, that's a big if), they keep 15% of the cost as a "restocking fee". What a rip.About a week after I shipped the item back, I hadn't received an email notification regarding the return status, so I tried to find a customer service number on the Flexibrace website. Guess what, they don't have one. You have to email them. This should be a red flag to anyone concerned with the quality of customer service. They responded to my email quickly, which was nice, but then came the true nature of the company.Their response to my initial email was that they'd check into it and get right back to me. A few hours later, I received another email with a couple of photo attachments. They refused to refund the item because a few strands of hair were stuck in the velcro straps. Sure enough, the photos clearly show a few strands of hair stuck to the velcro. They said the return was refused for hygiene concerns! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Apparently if you buy something from Flexibrace, you'd better try it on in a doctor's office or some other sterile environment (e.g., one of Dexter's kill rooms). I dare you to let a piece of velco touch your carpet or sock and not pick up any hair, especially if you have pets. And besides, I've never heard of contracting gonorrhea, the black plague, or gingivitis from hair, have you?Being an American company paying U.S. wages, I'll bet it cost them the same amount of money to pay the employee to take the pictures, type up the explanation, and send back the item as it would have cost to just refund me the $30. Thankfully, they sent the item back to me; now I have to try and sell it on CraigsList or eBay. Oh and get this, they even screwed the post office by not paying return postage. They just wrote "refused" on the package as if they didn't open it. Nice work Flexibrace, two birds with one stone. To me, customer service should be considered the cornerstone of any company, especially a retail company. Why should we give our hard earned money to a company like Flexibrace that has zero concern for customer satisfaction? So the moral of the story is to go with the smaller size of an ASO ankle brace if you're on the cusp and most importantly, do not buy anything from Flexibrace.
