I bought this switch to tidy a few of the cables in my house by using PoE and doing away with the chunky power adapters that power my cameras and Raspberry PI 3, as well as increasing my overall network ports (which I’m lacking).When it arrived I noticed its build quality was very good, it was composed of a hard steel shell and felt sturdy. The dimensions of it were 20cm Width x 12cm Height x 4.5cm Depth and it was very similar in size to a standard Nintendo Wii.What I liked about this switch is that it had the power supply built in and so connected directly to the mains power with a standard kettle lead. It was also fanless, which was an essential requirement for me in a PoE switch as it was going to be used in a home environment. It came supplied with brackets and mounting screws for rack mounting (it also has some rubber pads that can be optionally installed). This switch is POE 802.3af compliant and allows you to connect up to 8 POE devices at 100Mb/s. Note you can connect non-POE devices to the POE ports as the switch can tell if the device needs POE or not. It also has a slider switch on the front allowing it to operate in extended mode, what that means is that it will supply power to devices up to 250 meters away (although speed is reduced to 10 Mbits).Operation wise it is unmanaged so only requires plugging into a router and then connected with the devices that need powering via Ethernet cables. This switch worked great and was such an improvement over something like WiFi. It provided consistent speeds and made for a tidy house. am powering an IP camera with this. This unit does exactly what I expected--has 4 PoE ports that seem to work, and 4 non-PoE ports for other network connections.This is an unmanaged switch, so there really is no need for directions. The PoE ports are clearly labeled as such. There are indicator lights on the front of it, so if you are placing it in a living area and the lights will bother you, then you may have a problem. I have been using it for about a week and there are no issues. I have several PC's and a printer hooked up to it as well.If you are considering a PoE switch, you probably know that the there are DC power limitations and the length of your network cables matters in terms of getting your PoE device to work over the wire, and also in terms of how much power gets wasted in the wire.For the price, I am happy with this unit.

Having recently bought a wired only IP camera, I decided that it would be simpler to connect via PoE rather than using both a power lead and an Ethernet cable. However, my router, although is has a 4 port switch, doesn't include Power over Ethernet. Hence the purchase of this switch, which provides four new PoE ports and two uplink ports. It's a fairly weighty unit as has the power supply built in, which makes is simpler to connect as a standard extension cable can be run and it accepts a kettle connector.It seems very well made, robust and solid, and works as expected. PoE requires no special cables, so this is currently connected via to a camera via a single Ethernet lead and working without issues. The price was fine too.

I have several cctv cameras and this solution saved me a lot of hassle with the wires , having just one cable to route arround the house . Easy to set up and appears sturdy enough .

The supplied kettle lead is a safety/fire hazard. I took one apart, it is not UK compliant - not fused, cable is about 0.25mm, the UK plug can allow for shocks. Please replace the kettle lead ASAP with a compliant lead. I have advised both the manufacturer and Amazon.

I used this switch to connect my POE camera, it can supply power to the camera very well, the indicator light on the switch is very clear, the transmitted picture is also very clear, and the function of the product description is the same. In addition the panel is a nice blue colour.

It’s well made does the job well I like the way the outputs are marked and the power supply been internally so no adapter.

Excellent piece of kit, does exactly what it says on the tin!
