I don't know, but iPad Can easily handle simultaneous BT-jobs. E.g. Navigation and play Music to an external devise at the same time.

Q: Can you use the device while charging? planning a 1 month motorcycle tour.

I've just tried the GPS receiver plugged in to my car charger socket. I've also connected it to my iPad via bluetooth. The green charging light and the GPS light are both lit on the GPS receiver. My location is shown clearly on the my iPad map. Seems to work ok. Have a good trip.

Not sure I can help you with this one. It works fine with an iPhone or iPad. I'm assuming that as it works via bluetooth, it should work with a MacBook, but I haven't tried it. Maybe you should check to see if the Dual app runs on a MacBook.
