I originally bought the Asus Wifi 6 thinking it was compatible with Linux since I run an Asus mesh network. After downloading the firmware, I got it to connect to the network but it would disconnect after a short time and ask to re-enter my credentials. I looked on the documentation and searched for answers but gave up and sent it back. There is no official support for Linux from Asus on this product. I then found this wifi adapter with similar specs and it was a fraction of the price plus it claimed Linux compatibility. I think it actually has the same chip as the Asus adapter but I could be wrong. I went through the same process of downloading the firmware and installing the adapter. It was a pain but it connected and I had decent speed. A short time later it disconnected and asked for my credentials just like the Asus. After a few more disconnects, I started looking for solutions. BroTrend support was very helpful. I found a solution online that suggested adding the MAC address to Network Manager. I couldn't find the MAC address on the device but BroTrend support gave me some code to identify it along with some codes to help with debugging. I entered the MAC address in Network Manager and rebooted. Viola, no more drops. It probably would have worked with the Asus device but at the moment I am very happy. Server is working great and plenty of speed to stream anything I throw at it. I never used the debugging code. I am dreading future updates.

This is a great product and the support is great, too. I'm using Linux Mint 22. The company, Brostrend, has provided drivers for Linux that you have to download and install, but they provide the commands for doing that--just copy and paste. I ran into an issue that had nothing to do with the product--only to do with my PC. Support was very thorough and very prompt. Once I figured out the issue with my PC the installation went smoothly. The signal is great--very strong.Yes, you need an internet connection to install the drivers. Your router should have an Ethernet port. Yes, it's a bit inconvenient to set up your PC near the router and use a cable, but then you're done. You can work from anywhere in the house given the strength of the signal with this product.

I got this because it looked like exactly what I needed for a Hotspot on my Raspberry Pi, plus it said that it worked under Raspberry Pi. Using first a Raspberry Pi 5 and then dropping back to a Raspberry Pi 4B, I tried to install the driver under multiple versions of the Bookworm OS release. Results were always the same - the Pi either rebooted or hung during the installation. I needed an out-of-the-box solution, not another problem. Information I've found on the net confirms others have had similar problems. Reluctantly returning it.

PROSThey provide drivers for both WIndows 10/11 and Linux, and they both work fine.CONSI have with this antenna is that it is using the old style USB 3 connector. If you are using an intermediary usb cable connecting the antenna cable to the computer, it will not fully work. It will show up, but will be not really working in Windows and it will show up as disabled in Linux

I was amazed at the speed and distance you get with wifi 6. I just got a TP-Link AX21 wifi 6 router and this AX4L adapter allowed me to get speeds of nearly 200mps all the way out in a shed far from the access point even passing through several walls. Setup was super easy compared to other things in Linux. Their script is just one line you copy and paste in the command line and it automatically configures for your distro. You will need to apply any updates to your system first though, but you should do that anyway. I tried it on several including Kali despite it saying it wouldn't work. Looks like they updated the list on the site where you get the driver if you want to check on yours, linux.brostrend.com. I tried Ubuntu 22.04.3, Mint 20.3 and 21.2, Kali rolling and a couple other random ones on virtual machines. Also did fine on windows 10. Seems like a great product and works well. Be sure to disable any other wireless adapters you may have on your computer or they will fight each other for a connection. Everything is really easy if you know even just a little about Linux. Fast shipping and it seems like a company that actually knows about Linux and puts effort into making sure their product as close to plug and play as you can get. I don't usually write reviews, but wanted everyone to know it should be compatible with your system and it's very easy to configure.

The BrosTrend AX1800 USB WIFI 6 Adapter for Linux and Windows 11/10 is a very good product. It really has a great signal. Just make sure you follow the installation instructions and it will work great. I installed it on a desktop computer that has linux mx on one disk and linux LMDE 6 on another disk. The AX1800 works great for both linux operating systems. The computer is a 32bit. An older computer that I still wanted to keep so I installed linux on it. No good for windows 11. I would definitely recommend buying this wifi adapter. You can't go wrong. Just make sure you have a router that has capability for wifi 6 signals.

This works awesome in linux mint, just make sure secure boot is turned off before running installation program.

See attached image.Tried to use this on a BeagleBone AI-64 board with their standard Debian image.After installation and rebooting, boot hangs and gets stuck forever.When I remove the dongle boot resumes.I plug the dongle back in and everything works perfectly.I ordered 8 of these dongles. Will be returning unfortunately. It would have been a great solution. Maybe it works better for your hardware or OS.
