I got my first utopia bamboo mattress pad a few years ago. They work so great, and are so comfortable, that I've ordered more for every bed in our house. They are effective, hold up well in the washer and dryer, so I'm not sure if the reviews saying they aren't blocking liquids or washing well are following the cleaning instructions, as I've never had those problems with them. I would note that the skirt of the pad is not waterproof, so if something spills down the sides of your bed, it won't protect that part from spills, but neither will just about any other waterproof mattress pad on the market that I've seen to date. I first got the mattress pads for our toddlers bed while potty training. They held up great and protected the mattress, and have held up through many wash cycles. Every one that we have gotten are still in great shape. My favorite aspect of these, are that you don't feel like you are laying on a waterproof mattress pad. There is no crinkling of plastic when you move, you don't sweat like a pig from them, they are still breathable without losing the waterproof effect. They are so comfortable under the fitted sheets, that you don't realize they are there. Additionally, other waterproof mattress pads that I've had that were high end (expensive), had a rubber layer that would end up coming off over time in the washer and dryer. I wash these utopia mattress pads in our front-loading washing machine (no agitator to tear them up) on the heavy duty cycle (to get the most water out during the spin cycle), and dry on ultra low heat, and they have lasted literally for years of use for us. I'm on here once again, buying more for my daughter to take for her dorm room when she goes to college this fall. Definitely recommend them to anybody looking to protect their mattress from spills and accidents while maintaining comfort, breathability, and durability. Also, they have very deep pockets, so they fit mattresses that are are very thick - the king size pad fits our thick tempurpedic memory foam mattress without a problem.

I have to admit, I was very skeptical about this mattress cover when purchasing it, mainly because I couldn't believe that a cover could be everything it claimed to be for the price... Upon opening the package I immediately noticed how soft the material was. I flipped it over to inspect the waterproof side (basically to check if it would be noisy and uncomfortable under my sheets) and found that it was a far cry from the plastic bed protectors I use to buy for my son's bed when he was potty training. I still couldn't believe this material could actually be waterproof, SOOOOOOOO off to the faucet I went. I took a corner of the cover (I just KNEW this wasn't going to stand up to the description provided when I ordered) and ran the water over the top for what seemed like forever (was actually only a min or two) and, what do ya know, it WAS waterproof! I couldn't believe it! I only had one more test before I decided whether or not to keep it... Was it hot to sleep on? It fit my mattress easily, even when my 2 pillow toppers already on the bed, with room to spare should I want to add a third lol! When I laid down to sleep, there wasn't even a hint of rustling or plastic feeling at all. I actually FORGOT it was on the bed! The fabric breathed wonderfully! I tend to be a hot sleeper and there wasn't ANY additional heat created by having it on there! I would recommend this cover to EVERYONE! I'm buying one for my grand daughter's bed next!

We bought a new mattress and bed share with a potty training two year old. The overall quality of the mattress protector is very nice. It has the soft bamboo upper with the vinyl under that resembles a thick vinyl tablecloth stitched together. It's quiet and moves well while we sleep without that weird crinkle noise that's a tell tell sign of a typical mattress protector. I like that it allows the mattress underneath protection and yet it's breathable so the mattress doesn't end up with that stale smell. As long as the spills or leaks don't happen on the outer edges of the bed or get smooshed out towards the edge it protects very well as the outer side are just the thin stretchy material that isn't waterproof. To no fault of the protector, it does take a LONG time to dry when washed. I had to run it several times through the dryer. You can't use a normal heat setting with it. It needs to be on low or tumble dry and you can't wring it out so it takes a great portion of the day. The only other downside to this purchase is that they say for quality and care of the protector you have to have someone else help you put on the protector and it needs to be pulled on the bed evenly. I'm sure it has something to do with the vinyl so it doesnt rip or tear.

Overall a good fit for the Twin XL mattress. I have an 11.5 inches mattress and it fit well. It is water proof but not sure about breathable. the top feels comfortable but slightly hot. The product is good value. Will keep it for good use.

good value! recommend, came on time, well made, fits well,no odor, deep enough pockets to fit my mattress, elevatorunderneath, and 4" of memory foam toppers. Excellent pricefor the value. And Bamboo is eco friendly.
