I had my eye on this toy for my son for over a year. When it came time for his 3rd birthday, the right time arrived. I ordered the package with the vest and hard hat and the standard, no wheels excavator.It was a little difficult to put together, and the instructions could be clearer, but between other reviews and the Internet, I managed to assemble it. My son was in love.A few things to consider:1. I consider this to be appropriate for my 3 year old son, assuming adult supervision. If he tried to lift it or move it on his own, he could accidentally pinch his fingers if he did it the wrong way.2. Is not very heavy and the size is perfect for any 3 year old. I’m not sure how big a kid can be to use it (probably in the product description) but given the price and quality, I would be happy even if he could only use it until the age of 4 or 5.3. As long as you don’t drop it on or bump into something that can scratch a well painted surface, this thing is very durable.4. You’ll need a sandbox or a pile of dirt or mulch!

We bought this for our son when he was about 2 years old. He's 7 now and it has gone through another wild child since then. We have left it outside in all types of weather and it is still going strong. Our second son, now 4, is the primary user of it. He drags it all over the yard and it has not broken yet. Believe me when I say, he is rough on everything in our home.
